Misfire

PCM Won’t Indicate a Misfire?

• Low Fuel
  • On some Fords if fuel level is 15% or less or fuel gauge is not working, PCM doesn’t monitor misfire.

Stalling

• When pulling to a stop

  • Bad TPS
  • Bad EGR
    • ➱ EGR Troubleshooting

  • Stuck Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid

    • Try unplugging TC solenoid and see if the problem remains.
    • Low transmission fluid.

• When warm

  • Shorted Injectors
    • Ok when cold

Surging

• At idle

  • Bad ECT Sensor
  • MDS Lifters problems (Chrysler)
  • Idle Air Control
  • Front O2 Sensor

Lack of Power

• Air flow
  • ➱ Timing Troubleshooting
• EGR flow problems
• Restricted intake, exhaust
• Incorrect Timing
• Fuel flow (low fuel pressure)
• Engine Timing
• Ignition (bad coil)
