Troubleshooting

Blank Screen
  • Problem with CD Changer
    • If CD Changer (CCC-Car Communication Computer) is not operating, navigation screen will not function also (E60).
    • Will show BMW logo only.
    • Check BMW CCC Repair Guidelines below.

📝 Screen Stuck on Start Screen Logo | 2013 BMW 320
  • After car’s battery slowly died, the radio/entertainment stopped working. The screen only showed BMW logo.
    • Car had no codes, radio activations (like screen test, etc.) worked fine. No codes regarding MOST Ring.
  • Using ISTA+, reprogrammed all modules, including radio (HU-B) and radio/screen started working.

📎 CCC Repair | BMW E90 HW 9.8
  • http://mhhauto.com/Thread-BMW-E60-ccc-repair
  • In some cases resoldering flash chips fixes the problem, in others, whole board.
  • In other cases it can have a programming issue, so try reflashing it with ISTA.
  • If it doesn’t help, might have a corrupt SW or other HW issues.

📎 CCC M-ASK Programming | BMW E90, E60 (2005 545, 2007 335i)
  • No sound with replacement CCC M-ASK. Required Programming.
    • Replacement requires programming. Used ISTA-P, reprogrammed whole CCC aggregate.
      • Coding made chime sound to work, not audio sound.
      • Re-program all CCC related parts ➱ select CCC-Aggregate.
        • If asks for BO codes to activate “Voice Control”, just skip this step.
          • It didn’t affect result in fixing sound problem.
        • Programming just CCC-M-ASK didn’t make it produce sound.
      • After programming, turn ignition off for a few minutes (not 10 seconds). After that, start the car, and the sound system should start working.

📝 NBT (Next Best Thing) Head Unit Replacement | F30 2017 BMW 330i
  • Original radio had an issue that when the iDrive knob was being used, sometimes the screen would freeze, then unfreeze, then restart the radio.
  • Customer bought a different used radio. Screen was blank, no logo, no nothing. Sound was working.
  • Coding restored screen functionality.
    • Everything started working except the navigation.
      • Probably needed programming (not just coding) for that.
    • Autohex couldn’t Program this unit (security access rejected error). It could only Code it.

IDrive (ZBE or CON)

  • IDrive button  doesn’t respond to turning after CCC reprogramming
    • After ISTA reprograms 5 CCC modules, IDrive button might stop responding to turning.
    • Coding ➱ CAPPL ➱ ZBE ➱ change from “high” to “low” or “low_with_slopes”

Coding Extended Bluetooth

  • F30
    • Change 6NH to 6NK in the FA
    • VO code the HU_CIC and CMB_MEDIA ECUs.
